Vancouver Seawall

The City of Vancouver is located on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam Indian Band), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation).

I spent the first half of my break in Vancouver staying in my aunt’s condo! She lives right on the seawall downtown, so one of the days I was there, we walked it. Most of our walk went past Sunset Beach and English Bay, and it was a really nice day out in Vancouver, so it was busy out. However, being the Vancouver local my aunt is, she wasn’t really stopping at all to take in the water views, and was walking fast, which is why I have no photos from this day, but I did take the time to take in the fresh breeze and nature I was around.

Every time I’m in Vancouver, I always feel mentally better, and it’s like I am living the life I want to live. Vancouver always feels like a fresh breath of air every time I am there, and I always get in a higher-than-normal amount of steps, which is definitley good for my mental and physical health.

 Stress and Sleep Levels

Comparing my daily readiness score from the day of our walk, and the day after.

I was suffering from a pretty bad cold at the time, showing my body had major symptoms. However, you can see my readiness score improved the next day after experiencing nature.

My stress levels for the day (I had very sadly forgotten to wear my ring when we went out for our walk)

My sleep score after our walk. (The night before was a score of 70, with scores ranging between 60 and 86 [heightened due to the nap I had that day] for the week)

Walking alongside the ocean helped the stress of assignments due before reading break and the stress of life wash away. I felt more free and able to be myself, as well as more rested and having more energy the next day.
