Cadboro Bay

Cadboro Bay is located on the lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən, Songhees, Esquimalt, and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.

We spent our last sunny Sunday in and out of Cadboro Bay throughout the day. After we both had a great sleep after our big hike on Saturday, we woke up to pure sunshine, and a lot of homework to do.

To start off our day, we drove down to Cadboro Bay Beach Park, and went to Moka House to grab a coffee. We then did a walk through the grocery story, and walked down to the beach. At the beach we did a walk down the beach, taking in the fresh ocean air, and the sights of everyone taking in the sunny day. We put our hands in the ocean, and it felt so nice to feel the water.

We ended up going back home to do some work, but were constantly missing the beach, so we decided to go back to Cadboro Bay at around 4pm. It was still so nice out, so we decided to go for a swim. We drove back to the beach, but this time in our swim suits and towels.

It was super windy out, so we kept getting violently hit with sand. The wind made the water feel colder too, so I ended up sprinting into the water and going shoulders first in to get the quick shock of the cold over with. We stayed in for what felt like a minute, running straight to our towels to warm up again.

It felt super nice to feel the sunshine and the cold water mixed together. Cold plunges are supposed to be good reducing inflammation, as well as muscle soreness.

Sleep and Stress Data

My activity score from the day

My steps for the day

I did not do good at getting in my daily 10k steps, but everyone deserves a Sunday rest once in a while

My stress levels

I think it spiked very high after I put my ring back on after being in the water, as I was very cold, and just wanted to go back home and change, so my body was stressed. However, I mentally was not stressed.

My sleep score

I fell asleep super fast that night. I went to bed super early, and felt actually rested for my 8:30 class in the morning.

My readiness score for the day

I felt like the sunshine was well needed. It was so nice to finally see sun after such the rainy and cold weather we have been getting. Taking students out like this when the weather is nice is very important to their mental health, and just feeling the sun increases dopamine levels. My body and mental health felt like I had a break for once, and it was very nice.
