Dallas Road

Dallas Road is located on the traditional territory of the Lekwungen speaking people of the Songhees Nation and Xʷsepsəm Nation and W̱SÁNEĆ people.

One of my favourite activities in Victoria is walking Dallas Road. This weekend was such a nice weekend out, so we decided to enjoy the sunshine and the warm weather.

My roommate Megan and I drove down to Dallas Road. When we got there, it was very busy, we parked on a side street and walked a block to the water instead of parking where we normally would. With it being so sunny and warm out, we were instantly in good moods. We started our walk, and it was so nice to see people so happy, and all the dogs on the trail. As we both missed our dogs at home, it was a nice sight to see.

We started our walk from Ross Bay Pebbles Beach, all the way to the Breakwater and back. We had a good talk about life and got our chance to debrief the last few weeks, as we had been locked in on schoolwork and never got a chance to not think about school. We also got ice cream during our walk from Cold Comfort Ice Cream, so that was a nice treat for a very nice day.

On our way home, we went to Costco to do some shopping, and got our $1.50 hot dog, which was a nice treat after a good day!

Stress and Sleep Levels

My activity score from the day

My scores from the rest of the week were ranging from 50 – 75 (I took relaxing during reading break a little too seriously)

My step count for the day (I usually hit around 10,000 steps a day)

My Stress Levels from the Day

I think my stress levels raised when walking, as well as went we went into a crowed Costco. I wasn’t in a mental state of stress and I personally didn’t feel stress on my body, but I guess my statistics thought a different thing.

My sleep score from the night (Week ranged from 51-85).

I thought I had a pretty good sleep, however I had a really hard time falling asleep. However, I think it had to do with the anxiety and excitement of knowing I would find out my practicum placement the next day.

My readiness score for the next day

I felt ready and excited for the day, however with the anxiety and nervousness going to sleep set off my readiness score.

Even though my bad sleep schedule does not help my statistics in anyways, I find the walks help me personally feel more recovered and better for the next few days, and I find a greater improvement on my mental health. I always feel like my personally mental health is better, and that my anxiety levels are lower, which is something I need, especially since I feel anxious if I am home for too long.
